Engagement Type: W-2 only. No sponsorships, Corp-to-Corp, or 1099 arrangements permitted.
Overview:
Client is seeking a Mortgage Closing Specialist I to act as the liaison for Closing Disclosure (CD) Issuance. Youll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to meet target close dates, ensure data accuracy (homeowners, taxes, fees, payoffs, third-party invoices), and keep pipeline reporting on track in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign/manage pipeline reporting to title reviewers; monitor title review queue.
- Maintain clear communication with customers, brokers/correspondents, settlement agents, loan officers, post-closing, loan delivery, servicing, accounting, funding, and internal teammates to ensure a seamless closing.
- Obtain closing documentation/information (payoffs, subordinations, releases, tax/title, homeowners/flood insurance).
- Review files for compliance with state/federal guidelines; complete verbal VOE for income-qualified borrowers; review homeowners, flood, title, and tax docs.
- Track rate-lock and document expirations and escalate proactively.
- Validate system-of-record data so CDs can be prepared with complete/accurate inputs.
- Coordinate with Settlement Agents to gather fee details and contacts for the CD.
- Monitor and adjust close dates; communicate changes to all applicable parties.
- Adhere to Client risk, regulatory, and internal control standards; support audits/remediation as needed.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive culture that reflects the Client brand.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree and 1+ year business experience (or 3+ years combined education/work experience including 1+ year business or mortgage closing/customer service).
- Encompass proficiency (must know Encompass).
- Strong PC skills; proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, and email.
- Ability to make sound decisions with available information; strong attention to detail.
- Proven reliability; able to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal/written communication; strong organizational and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):
- Prior mortgage closing experience with a lender, title company, or settlement agent.
- Knowledge of department systems/software and mortgage product/investor/compliance requirements.
