Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical / Controls Engineer to join their manufacturing facility in Anderson, SC. In this role, you will design, implement, and support complex control systems and automation solutions across production equipment while serving as a technical leader and mentor to Controls Technicians.

This position plays a critical role in equipment performance, safety, and continuous improvement across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Promote and enforce OSHA and company safety standards, always using proper safety equipment

Identify and immediately correct electrical safety hazards

Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and coach others on best practices

Develop and maintain machine safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) for operations and maintenance teams

Lead and support cross-functional teams (Engineering, Maintenance, Production), OEMs, vendors, and contractors during equipment design, installation, startup, and commissioning

Review and approve electrical designs, components, and control system software modifications

Support machine acceptance testing, troubleshoot startup issues, and resolve complex electrical and controls problems

Specify and support power distribution systems, drives, motors, PLCs, DCS, HMIs, servo systems, robotics, instrumentation, and data collection platforms in accordance with company standards

Evaluate electrical equipment from multiple suppliers and recommend best-value solutions

Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and process issues, leading and mentoring others through root-cause resolution

Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, throughput, and overall operational performance

Lead continuous improvement and capital projects from concept through completion 

Design and implement complex program modifications in PLC, DCS, HMI, and servo control systems

Provide technical training and operational support to Controls, Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and other teams

Support off-shift and after-hours troubleshooting as needed


Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field

Minimum of 3 years of industrial controls or electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Strong working knowledge of:

Power distribution, grounding, bonding, and coordinated drives

AC motors, medium-voltage drives, servo systems, and robotics

PLC, DCS, and HMI platforms

Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

Experience with control system backups, archiving, and recovery

Experience with industrial OT networks, including setup, security, and troubleshooting

Proven ability to lead complex automation or electrical projects 

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment

Strong safety mindset with a commitment to environmental and workplace safety policies

Proficiency with CMMS systems, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and scheduling software
