We're looking for a 3rd Shift Plant Maintenance Mechanic for a brand-new facility in Sandwich, IL.

The 3rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining all plant processing, packaging, and distribution equipment. This includes but is not limited to pumps, conveyors, valves, filters, box formers, tapers, inkjet, and thermal printers, stackers, palletizers, wrappers, pallet jacks, fork trucks, dock levelers, water and wastewater treatment as well as all plant and office facilities.

Working hours are Monday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 8:30 AM, with occasional overtime and extremely uncommon weekend work. You must have your own essential hand tools, electrical meter/testing equipment, and tool storage.

Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to correctly and safely service, remove and replace 110V 480V electrical equipment, as well as 24V control circuits.
  • Able to troubleshoot and analyze mechanical and electrical issues on a variety of equipment and determine the best and most effective method to solve the problem.
  • Strong understanding of building HVAC systems operations.
  • Capable of welding soft steel and sanitary stainless-steel (desired) piping.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Experience with water heaters, water filtration and conditioning systems, pumps, all water distribution systems, on-demand boiler systems, and the ability to perform daily testing of steam and condensation return.
  • Familiar with PLC control systems and building automation systems.
  • Ability to learn and maintain CMMS and spare parts replenishment program.
  • Basic understanding of sanitary operations and procedures.
  • Have strong communications skills to effectively communicate with previous and on coming shifts regarding any issues as well as with team members and management via direct conversation, text, email, or written forms on a daily basis.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize issues in the order of importance in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical/mechanical schematics.
  • Safety and Quality Consciousness; familiar with LOTO, Confined Space, and other OSHA requirements.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial production environment (Food or Dairy Manufacturing Experience Preferred)
  • Own reliable transport

Physical Demands:

  • Lift 25-50 pounds frequently, occasionally lift or move material in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Work in environments from 32°-110° or more.
  • Work in noisy and wet environments.
