Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have proven Australian estimation experience, particularly in low-rise commercial projects, along with strong analytical skills and practical site knowledge. This role is critical in preparing accurate cost estimates, planning project phases, analysing floor plans, and contributing to project success from concept to completion.

The successful candidate must be confident working in early design phases where full documentation may not yet be available. The ability to interpret and extrapolate from limited or preliminary information is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for low-rise commercial construction and fit-out projects.
• Interpret and analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and incomplete documentation to develop sound estimates.
• Collaborate closely with internal design, construction, and procurement teams to ensure scope, materials, and timelines are aligned.
• Support all phases of project delivery from pre-construction feasibility and budgeting to final cost reporting.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Utilize estimating and digital take-off tools (e.g., CUBIT, Buildsoft) to enhance estimate precision and efficiency.
• Participate in tender submissions, preparing commercially competitive and technically sound proposals.
• Monitor construction progress and compare actual costs versus estimates to identify and address any variances early.
• Assist in refining project scopes and identifying cost-saving opportunities during value engineering phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Must have experience in Australian estimating.
• Minimum of 8 years estimating experience within the construction industry, ideally focused on low-rise commercial projects.
• Experience using CUBIT or Buildsoft estimating software is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Australian building codes, standards, and construction practices is essential.
• Strong background in construction site operations, with the ability to apply practical insights to improve estimate accuracy.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, PlanSwift, or similar project modeling and take-off tools.
• Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
