Role Overview
The Civil Quality Control (QC) Inspector supports the contractor delivering construction projects across Micronesia for U.S. government projects. The role is site-based, works as part of the contractor's quality team, and interfaces regularly with government representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily quality control inspections of earthwork, grading, excavation, backfill, and compaction activities.
- Inspect concrete operations, including formwork, reinforcing steel, placement, curing, and testing.
- Verify installation of utilities, drainage systems, pavements, and site civil improvements.
- Confirm materials testing results comply with approved mix designs, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Review and track civil submittals, RFIs, and construction drawings for conformance.
- Prepare daily QC reports, inspection records, and deficiency logs, and track corrective actions through closure.
- Coordinate inspections with survey teams, testing laboratories, subcontractors, and field supervision.
- Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 safety standards and applicable environmental controls.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of civil construction or civil quality inspection experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of civil construction practices, including concrete, earthwork, and site infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
- Willingness and ability to work in an overseas, physically active field environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NAVFAC, or U.S. Department of Defense construction projects.
- Prior overseas or remote construction project experience strongly preferred.
Education / Background
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent practical field experience will be considered.
Preferred Certifications
- USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C).
- NICET certification in Concrete, Construction Materials, or related discipline.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: USD $50,000–$80,000 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications.
