Role Overview
The Mechanical Quality Control Inspector supports the contractor delivering construction projects across Micronesia for U.S. government projects. The role is site-based, works as part of the contractor's quality team, and interfaces regularly with government representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, piping, fuel and gas systems, compressed air, and specialty mechanical systems.
- Verify mechanical installations comply with contract documents, approved submittals, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and applicable standards.
- Monitor and witness mechanical activities including welding, pressure testing, flushing, balancing, Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB), and commissioning.
- Maintain daily inspection reports, deficiency logs, and mechanical quality documentation.
- Review and provide input on mechanical RFIs, shop drawings, and product submittals.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical subcontractors and the Project Quality Control Manager to support issue resolution.
- Enforce EM 385-1-1 safety requirements related to mechanical construction activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of mechanical construction or mechanical inspection experience.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, piping, and fuel or gas systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
- Experience performing field-based inspections in active construction environments.
- Ability to work effectively in an overseas, site-based construction environment.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
- Mechanical trade background or mechanical engineering or technology degree.
- Familiarity with USACE mechanical specifications and commissioning requirements.
- Prior overseas and/or U.S. Government project experience.
- USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certification.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
- HVAC or other mechanical trade certifications.
Compensation
- Estimated salary range: USD $50,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience and certifications.
