Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer supports the contractor delivering construction projects across Micronesia for U.S. government projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site mechanical engineering support during construction.
- Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
- Oversee installation and coordination of aviation fuel systems and associated piping.
- Oversee installation and coordination of industrial and specialty gas systems.
- Oversee installation and coordination of HVAC and ventilation systems.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with fire protection systems.
- Coordinate daily with Construction Quality Control staff, safety personnel, USACE representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Participate in coordination meetings, inspections, and progress reviews.
- Support testing, commissioning, system turnover, and closeout activities.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, USACE Engineering Manuals, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and applicable host-nation requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum seven (7) years of total experience, including at least three (3) years on-site delivering complex mechanical scopes. Industrial, aviation, or mission facility experience preferred.
- Demonstrated on-site construction experience, particularly working with gases and/or fuels.
- Ability to work effectively in an overseas construction environment.
- Strong coordination and field communication skills in English.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States, or demonstrated ability to work effectively with the project Designer of Record or commissioning authority.
- Prior hangar or aviation maintenance facility experience, including coordination driven by fire protection systems, drainage requirements, classified spaces, or large bay ventilation.
- Special hazards fire protection interfaces supporting foam systems, pump rooms, and water storage coordination.
- Demonstrated experience with at least two of the following systems in vertical or industrial facilities:
- Large-scale HVAC systems and controls.
- Domestic water and hot water systems.
- Floor trench drain systems and oil-water separation concepts.
- Experience supporting U.S. Government construction projects.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: USD $60,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience.
- Housing provided.
- Food stipend provided.
- Additional uplifts may apply based on project conditions.
