Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in a multi-system z/OS environment. The role involves installing, upgrading, and customizing ISV tools, providing SA/390 automation support, and ensuring high system availability. The consultant will work closely with Applications Development, Infrastructure, IT Operations, and Production Support teams while participating in DR exercises and maintaining DR readiness. The position also requires active monitoring, L3 support, and adherence to organizational quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and customize IBM and ISV tools across z/OS mainframe systems.
- Provide usage support to Application Development, Infrastructure, IT Operations, and Production Support teams.
- Participate in 24x7 rotational on-call support for incident resolution and system availability.
- Use IBM/ISV online tools for opening, tracking, and resolving problem reports.
- Actively participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and maintain DR readiness.
- Monitor system status to proactively prevent issues and maintain hardware configurations.
- Independently resolve tickets and ensure SLA compliance for ticket volume and turnaround times.
- Support incident and problem management processes for escalated issues.
- Contribute to knowledge base updates, train new analysts, and participate in hiring activities.
- Ensure alignment with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Support Service Improvement Plans and proposal creation for business needs.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience working in Mainframe (z/OS) environments.
- Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, and customizing ISV tools.
- Experience supporting SA/390 automation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in L3 support environments.
- Familiarity with DR processes, system monitoring, and hardware configuration.
- Ability to work in rotational 24x7 on-call support.
- Bachelor of Technology/Engineering degree.
