Job brief
Site Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating construction works on site, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, and safety requirements. The role bridges the design team, project management team, and site operations to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Site Construction Supervision
- Supervise daily construction works to ensure activities follow approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Monitor work progress and ensure construction is completed according to the project schedule.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment to support site operations.
- Technical Coordination
- Review construction drawings and identify technical issues or design conflicts.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and engineers to resolve design clarifications and site issues.
- Ensure the latest drawings and instructions are implemented on site.
- Subcontractor Management
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors to ensure works meet quality standards and project requirements.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure work is completed within the planned timeline.
- Assist subcontractors in resolving technical problems during construction.
- Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct site inspections to ensure works comply with project specifications and quality standards.
- Identify defects and coordinate rectification works.
- Ensure proper documentation of inspection results and testing activities.
- Safety Compliance
- Ensure construction activities comply with safety regulations from the
- Ministry of Manpower and the
- Building and Construction Authority.
- Work closely with safety officers to enforce Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements.
- Ensure workers follow safe work procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain site documentation including:
- Daily progress reports
- Site instructions and RFIs (Request for Information)
- Inspection records and work schedules
- Report project progress, issues, and updates to the Project Manager or Site Manager.
- Problem Solving & Site Support
- Identify construction challenges and provide technical solutions.
- Support the project team in resolving construction and design coordination issues.
- Ensure smooth execution of works throughout the construction process.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Building.
- 2–6 years of experience in construction site supervision.
- Knowledge of construction methods, engineering drawings, and site coordination.
- Familiarity with local construction standards and regulations.
