Application Engineer (MES) - Contract

• Customize and enhance the MES to support new factory workflows and automation processes

• Develop new MES modules or features to accommodate automation requirements (e.g., ASRS unit tracking, robot operation logging).

• Configure MES to effectively orchestrate with shop-floor automation systems

• Implement business rules to ensure:

  • Equipment events (e.g., pass/fail signals, robot task completion) trigger correct MES transactions

  • MES can send commands or instructions back to connected devices when required

• Enable real-time bi-directional communication between MES and automation systems.

• Configure data retention, traceability, and compliance-related production history settings.

• Ensure system performance, scalability, and data integrity as transaction volumes increase.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems in a production/manufacturing environment.

• Proven experience in MES customization, development, and shop-floor system integration.

• Strong hands-on experience with MES platforms and production operations.

• Solid understanding of production order management, workflow configuration and equipment and automation integration within MES.

• Experience developing or scripting MES customizations using: Coding, Configuration tools and MES APIs.

• Proficiency in system integration using REST APIs, SOAP web services, Message queues.

• Strong SQL skills for database querying, performance optimization and data integrity management.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience configuring or extending specific MES platforms 

• Knowledge of manufacturing concepts such as lot genealogy, work-in-progress (WIP) tracking and production routing.

• Experience integrating MES with enterprise systems such as ERP systems and Quality management systems

• Understanding of end-to-end production data consistency across enterprise platforms.
