About the job Business Analyst (Contract)
- Assess technology needs and requirements, weighing their value and risk to identify optimal business solutions.
- Analyze system components, performance, and issues to design solution blueprints that account for integration across the broader IT landscape.
- Convert business needs and user expectations into clear functional and technical specifications, ensuring alignment with overall solution design.
- Assess the feasibility, sustainability, and impact of proposed system enhancements on the present and future business landscape.
- Prioritize and balance stakeholder demands to maximize organizational value.
- Develop and present business cases highlighting potential efficiencies, benefits, risks, and proposed solutions.
- Draft, review, and update technical design documents, source code documentation, and user manuals.
- Define business rules for regulatory reporting, operational processes, and data transformations.
- Design functional solutions and conduct thorough testing to ensure quality delivery.
- Uphold and promote best practices related to the organizations data dictionary and metadata governance.
- Collaborate with developers to define detailed implementation specifications.
- Liaise with cross-functional IT teams to communicate data services and integration plans.
- Support daily Agile operations using tools and methodologies such as Scrum, Jira, and Kanban.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory updates, and new technologies pertinent to capital markets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar domain or role.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in data analysis using SQL-based databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase, including strong command of T-SQL and JOINs.
- Solid understanding of Microservices architecture and tools like Swagger UI.
- Familiarity with UNIX commands and scripting fundamentals.
- Practical experience in sourcing and handling data in formats such as CIBML, Kafka messages, and JSON.
- Deep understanding of Cross-Functional Testing (CFT) methodologies.
- Proficient in XSLT transformation with experience using tools like Oxygen XML Editor.
- Working knowledge of messaging queue systems and tools such as Hermes is advantageous.
- Basic experience with monitoring and visualization tools like Grafana and Kibana, as well as Java EJB.
- Skilled in version control and Agile tools including GIT and Jira, with sound knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Functional Skills
- Proven experience supporting capital markets and trading systems, particularly within Market Risk or Front Office operations, with a strong understanding of financial instruments (e.g., Treasury, FX, Credit, IRD, Bonds, RSF).
- Practical expertise in global transaction reporting regulations such as MiFID II, SFTR, EMIR, CFTC, and regional (APAC) requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of market data, pricing, trade lifecycle events (clearing, settlement, confirmation, affirmation), and regulatory data sources like Jet Stream, TradeWeb, and MarkitWire.
- Strong grasp of derivatives (IRS, TRS, CDS, etc.) and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Capable of independently managing end-to-end regulatory projects with full accountability.
- Experience integrating data from front-office platforms such as Kondor, Summit, and OpenTrade (OT).
- Familiar with capital market workflows including pricing strategies and sales/trader operations.
