About the job System Management Specialist (Permanent)

Role: 

  • Manage and maintain internal systems and developed servers supporting banking operations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and manage contracts related to software license renewals and hardware maintenance.

Responsibilities

Operational Documentation:

  • Compile and submit monthly access log reports.
  • Gather and report system performance metrics on a monthly basis.

Operational Tasks:

  • Ensure system configurations comply with the banks security standards, especially during audits.
  • Review functional requirements and implement system changes in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team leader to validate that system configurations align with design specifications and meet both functional and technical requirements.
  • Address daily user support queries related to servers, networks, PCs, and user accounts.
  • Respond to system issues by applying workarounds, conducting root cause analysis, and proposing long-term improvements.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including system runbooks, IT inventory lists, ID management records, and system parameter sheets.
  • Continuously identify and address system inefficiencies to drive improvements, maintaining clear communication with team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in building and managing Windows server environments. (Required)
  • Minimum of three years in IT operations and maintenance with knowledge of ITIL frameworks. (Required)
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure tools such as backup solutions, monitoring systems, antivirus software, and job scheduling tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Forms, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Office.
  • Familiarity with network configurations, including Access Control Lists (ACLs) and firewalls.
  • Possess advanced technical proficiency consistent with Tier 3 IT support responsibilities.

Highly Advantageous Skills/Knowledge

  • Experience deploying and managing Linux or Unix-based server systems.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Working knowledge of databases like Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Shell Script, VBS/VBA, or Python.
  • Experience in developing applications using Microsoft Power Apps.

Aptitude

  • Ability to escalate issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Willingness to collaborate with leadership to identify operational issues and implement proactive improvements.
  • Skilled in implementing temporary workarounds for system issues and conducting thorough root cause analysis to enable permanent resolutions
