Job brief
M&E Manager (Mechanical & Electrical Manager) is responsible for managing the design, coordination, installation, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems throughout the project lifecycle. The role ensures all M&E works meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
Responsibilities
- M&E Design Management
- Review and manage the design development of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, electrical power, lighting, fire protection, plumbing, and ELV systems.
- Coordinate with consultants and engineers to ensure M&E designs align with architectural and structural requirements.
- Review M&E drawings, technical specifications, and shop drawings for accuracy and compliance.
- Project Coordination
- Coordinate M&E works with architectural, structural, and civil teams in the design-and-build project
- Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Lead M&E coordination meetings and resolve design conflicts or construction issues.
- Construction & Installation Management
- Supervise and monitor M&E installation works on site.
- Ensure installation is carried out according to approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure works meet the project schedule.
- Quality Control & Testing
- Conduct inspections to ensure M&E works comply with quality standards and technical requirements.
- Oversee testing and commissioning (T&C) of M&E systems before project completion.
- Ensure all M&E systems function properly before handover.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure M&E works comply with regulations and requirements from authorities such as:
- Building and Construction Authority
- Energy Market Authority
- Singapore Civil Defence Force
- Coordinate submissions and approvals for M&E systems.
- Procurement & Contractor Management
- Evaluate and manage M&E subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review technical proposals, materials, and equipment specifications.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure work meets project requirements.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Building Services Engineering.
- 8–12 years of experience in M&E works within construction projects.
- Experience managing M&E systems in design-and-build developments.
- Strong knowledge of building systems such as:
- HVAC
- Electrical distribution
- Fire protection systems
- Plumbing and sanitary systems
- ELV systems.
