Senior Network Engineer

Context

Join a network team responsible for the setup, security and operations of an enterprise network supporting business-critical services running 24/7. You’ll work across a broad technical landscape (LAN/WAN/datacenter/cloud) and contribute to projects such as datacenter connectivity, cloud connectivity, WAN modernization and security improvements.

Responsibilities

• Operate within a team supporting 24/7 services and ensure operational stability
• Work in both IT and OT environments; prepare and execute changes with high diligence
• Participate in deployment and maintenance of IT/OT network systems
• Support internal stakeholders across multiple sites; travel may be required
• Contribute to network projects (connectivity rollouts, cloud connectivity, WAN modernization, security enhancements)
• Use automation (Python/Ansible) to improve operations where possible
• Participate in an on-call / standby rotation (max 1 week in 4)

Must-have skills

• In-depth Checkpoint firewall expertise (must)
• Strong firewall knowledge (Palo Alto is a plus)
• Routing & switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, IS-IS, MST)
• Cloud technologies experience
• Cisco Wireless experience
• Automation with Python and/or Ansible
• Knowledge of monitoring/NAC/central syslog tooling
• Authentication services: TACACS and RADIUS
• Comfortable in a predominantly Cisco environment (Juniper is a plus)

Languages

• Dutch or French (must)
• Fluent English

Practical

• Start: ASAP
• Duration: 1 year (renewable)
• Work model: first 3 months mainly on-site (full-time) for onboarding; afterwards hybrid possible (typically 3 days on-prem, 2 flexible if the work permits it)
• Driving license + own car required
• Willing to travel to sites when required
