Enterprise Data Architect 

Location: Brussels Region

About the Role

We are looking for a senior Enterprise Data Architect to ensure that data across the organization is structured, consistent, and reliable across all systems and business domains.

You will play a key role in defining how data is created, managed, and consumed across the application landscape. Acting as a central point of coordination between business and IT, you will ensure alignment between business processes, data models, and system responsibilities.

This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on architectural guidance in a complex enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business strategy into scalable and future-proof data architectures

  • Define and maintain the Business Information Model (BIM), including core entities and relationships

  • Map data ownership across systems (creation, master data, transformation, consumption)

  • Analyze and document data flows between applications

  • Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and normalization principles

  • Ensure proper metadata management, data lineage, and source-to-target mappings

  • Promote and implement data governance principles and best practices

  • Review current architecture and propose improvements aligned with target architecture

  • Document and communicate data architecture guidelines across teams

  • Collaborate closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders

Requirements

Must-have

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:

    • Data architecture

    • Data modeling

    • Data warehousing

    • Enterprise information management

  • Strong expertise in:

    • Conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling

    • Designing enterprise-wide data domains and canonical models

    • Data integration (APIs, ETL/ELT, streaming, data virtualization)

  • Experience with:

    • MDM (Master Data Management)

    • Metadata management

    • Data quality frameworks

    • Data governance practices

  • Ability to:

    • Create and explain modeling diagrams and documentation

    • Align data structures with business processes

  • Good understanding of:

    • Data security

    • GDPR and compliance

  • Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field

Nice to have

  • Certifications such as TOGAF, DAMA, ITIL, AWS/Azure, or similar

  • Experience with enterprise architecture tools (e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect)

  • Experience in complex enterprise environments (e.g. utilities, infrastructure, energy)

Languages

  • Fluent in English

  • Good knowledge of Dutch and/or French
