Senior Data Operations Specialist
We are looking for a Senior Data Operations Specialist to take ownership of the design, execution, and governance of data pipelines that power advanced AI and analytics systems. This role sits at the intersection of data quality, compliance, and human-in-the-loop oversight, ensuring our AI solutions are robust, ethical, and regulation-ready.
As part of this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of data operationsfrom dataset curation and annotation workflows to regulatory compliance and cross-functional collaboration with product, research, and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities
- Data Curation & Quality: Drive processes for collecting, cleaning, labeling, and validating multi-modal datasets (text, images, audio, video, interaction logs).
- Human-in-the-Loop Oversight: Build and oversee workflows for RLHF, human evaluations, red-teaming, and exception handling; manage annotation vendors and internal labeling teams.
- Compliance & Governance: Align data operations with regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, GDPR, global data privacy standards); maintain provenance, lifecycle documentation, and audit trails.
- Operational Leadership: Partner with engineering, research, and product stakeholders to scope data needs, define KPIs, and track delivery; mentor junior team members and improve processes at scale.
- Innovation & Tooling: Assess and implement annotation platforms, workflow automation, and emerging approaches (synthetic data, active learning, semi-automated labeling) while ensuring human oversight.
Requirements
- 5+ years in data operations, annotation management, or ML data lifecycle management.
- Proven experience working with large-scale, multi-modal datasets and distributed labeling teams.
- Strong expertise in data quality metrics, evaluation frameworks, and statistical validation methods.
- Familiarity with AI/ML pipelines, RLHF, or human evaluation of generative models.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML regulations and data privacy frameworks (EU AI Act, GDPR).
- Excellent leadership, project management, and cross-team communication skills.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with annotation tools (Labelbox, Scale, Snorkel, Prodigy).
- Background in linguistics, human factors research, or applied data science.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation, crowdsourcing platforms, or vendor management.
- Multilingual skills or domain-specific data expertise (finance, healthcare, legal, etc.).
