Business Analyst (Hybrid Washington, D.C.)

We're looking for a Business Analyst to join a collaborative team supporting the delivery of Appian-based solutions for federal clients. If you enjoy translating business needs into actionable tech requirements and thrive in Agile environments, this one's for you.

Location & Schedule

This is a hybrid position based in Washington, D.C. Candidates in the surrounding area are welcome to apply, but must be willing to commute as needed. This is a full-time role (40 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage stakeholders to gather, analyze, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements.
• Develop epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process models in support of Agile sprint planning.
• Support backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to continuously refine priorities and scope.
• Document and maintain traceability of requirements to design, testing, and release artifacts.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure test cases and acceptance tests align with requirements.
• Act as liaison between product owners, developers, and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and update business process documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in Agile federal IT environments.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Appian or other BPM platforms.
• Proficient in writing user stories, conducting stakeholder interviews, and process mapping (e.g., BPMN).
• Experience with Agile tools like JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• IIBA CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Agile certifications (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM) are desirable.
