We are seeking a Principal SAS Specialist to play a key leadership role within an advanced analytics environment in the banking sector. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic advisor, driving the effective adoption and optimization of the SAS Viya platform while ensuring alignment between technical solutions and institutional objectives. This is a high-impact role requiring strong collaboration, communication, and strategic planning capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Promotion and Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for the strategic use of SAS Viya across the organization.
  • Lead the integration of SAS solutions into the institutions analytics ecosystem.
  • Ensure alignment of SAS platform capabilities with long-term business goals.
  • Collaborate with IT, architecture, and analytics teams to address complex challenges.
  • Champion SAS as a core platform for data-driven decision-making.

2. Analytical Roadmap Management and Technical Evaluation

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of the institutions analytics roadmap.
  • Ensure SAS solutions meet current and future business needs.
  • Support key initiatives such as ALM, FTP, and Liquidity Risk projects.
  • Participate in the strategic planning of SAS technology use.

3. Interdepartmental Collaboration Facilitation

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to maximize the value of the SAS ecosystem.
  • Align analytics strategies with institutional priorities through active engagement.
  • Promote a culture of openness, innovation, and continuous improvement.

4. Communication, Reporting, and Executive Presentations

  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, strategy presentations, and executive updates.
  • Represent the project in governance forums, working groups, and steering committees.

5. Planning, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead quarterly planning sessions with a focus on results and accountability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to evaluate project health and risks.
  • Propose and implement corrective actions to drive long-term success.

6. Logistics and Operational Deliverables

  • Coordinate and deliver on-site and remote consulting sessions.
  • Provide strategic deliverables such as roadmaps, training plans, and documentation.
  • Leverage collaboration platforms (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, SAS Partnernet) for project transparency and execution.

7. Results-Oriented Mindset and Sense of Urgency

  • Operate with a strong sense of urgency to meet client goals.
  • Focus on outcomes that enhance analytical maturity and business impact.
  • Prioritize high-value actions that deliver sustainable results.

8. Adaptability and Change Management

  • Lead change initiatives through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Apply structured change management methodologies to support organizational transformation.


Technical and Language Requirements

  • Technical expertise with SAS Viya 4, including hands-on experience with the platform.
  • Strong understanding of SAS technical solutions and their implementation within enterprise environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cloud Technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), with the ability to lead technical conversations involving cloud architecture, integrations, and performance.
  • Capable of managing technical escalations with SAS customer support and internal stakeholders.
  • Spanish must be the consultants primary language, with fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
  • Proficient in technical English, capable of understanding documentation, conducting meetings, and writing reports in English.
