Job Summary:
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation of guest cabins, public areas, and back-of-house facilities onboard the cruise ship. Ensures guests have a comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment throughout their cruise experience.
1. Housekeeping Management Roles
Housekeeping Manager / Chief Steward
- Overall management of the Housekeeping Department, including cabins, public areas, and laundry.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise housekeeping staff.
- Ensure compliance with cruise line standards, health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
- Conduct inspections of cabins, public areas, and laundry facilities.
- Manage budgets, inventories, and ordering of cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities.
- Resolve guest complaints and coordinate with other departments for service issues.
- Train and mentor supervisory staff.
Assistant Housekeeping Manager / Deputy Chief Steward
- Supports the Housekeeping Manager in all operational tasks.
- Supervises supervisors and ensures tasks are performed according to standards.
- Coordinates staff scheduling and workload distribution.
- Handles escalated guest requests or complaints.
- Assists with inventory control and reporting.
Cabin Supervisors / Public Area Supervisors
- Directly supervise cabin stewards, public area cleaners, and laundry staff.
- Conduct quality inspections of guest cabins and public areas.
- Ensure team adherence to hygiene, safety, and ship policies.
- Provide on-the-job training for new staff.
- Report staffing needs, maintenance issues, or guest concerns to management.
2. Operational Housekeeping Roles
Cabin Steward / Stewardess
- Clean and maintain guest cabins, bathrooms, and balconies.
- Make beds, replace linens, towels, and amenities.
- Restock minibar and cabin supplies.
- Respond to guest requests promptly and courteously.
- Report maintenance issues or lost & found items.
Public Area Cleaner
- Clean and maintain public areas including lounges, corridors, restaurants, elevators, and stairwells.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
- Dust, wipe, and disinfect surfaces regularly.
- Manage trash collection, segregation, and disposal.
Laundry Attendant
- Collect, sort, and process laundry for cabins, restaurants, and crew areas.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, and irons safely and efficiently.
- Maintain proper inventory of linens, towels, and uniforms.
