We are currently hiring a Manager Legal Affairs on behalf of our esteemed client. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned legal professional to join a dynamic organization and play a key role in overseeing legal matters, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision making. The ideal candidate will bring strong legal expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact with external legal entities, such as law firms and regulatory bodies.
  • Review and advise on all legal matters relating to contracts and agreements on an ongoing basis.
  • Keep abreast of current laws and legislation, ensuring that the company meets all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring agreement with laws and regulations and updating the legal group-wide framework.
  • Identify potential areas of legal vulnerability, develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve problematic issues, and advise on mitigating similar future problems.
  • Manage the groups legal framework and develop and manage regulatory policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to ensure process efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing, negotiating, and completing contractual documentation with customers, suppliers, or other counterparties.
  • Contribute to corporate business development and other transactions, including corporate actions such as liquidation, acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures, ensuring that all legal documentation is appropriately prepared, negotiated, and completed on a timely basis.
  • Provide advice on issues/subjects related to civil law, commercial companies law, tax laws, labor law, and capital market law.
  • Control the quality of services external law firms and overseas counsels provide.
  • Conduct internal investigations regarding legal concerns.
  • Manage audits by regulatory bodies, responses to regulatory inquiries, and implementation of corrective actions if necessary.
  • Develop and oversee legal monitoring and control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal and regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
  • Ensure all necessary reports are submitted to regulatory bodies on time and that appropriate records are maintained.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of legal controls and improve them continuously.
  • Assess the business's future ventures to identify possible legal risks.
  • Implement group-wide training on all legal and regulatory matters and novelties in coordination with HR.
  • Communicate effectively with employees about legal-related matters or changes in policies.
  • Ensure organizational awareness of all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including data protection, employment law, health and safety, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Other tasks may be required to complete the day-to-day work in the legal department with an acting capacity and deputization in corporate secretarial and corporate governance matters.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in law (L.L.B), International Law, Commercial Law, or related field.

Skills & experience:

  • Minimum 10 years experience within a Legal role.
  • Competent Arabic & English language skills mandatory.
  • Experience in Bahrain along with knowledge of Bahrain laws and regulations is mandatory.
  • Able to effectively delegate tasks, provide guidance and support, foster collaboration, and manage resources and deadlines.
  • Effective time management, prioritization of tasks, and adaptability to changing circumstances are crucial for timely and efficient legal support and services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data protection requirements, breach notification obligations, and compliance with privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Strong foundation and comprehensive understanding of various areas of law relevant to the organization's operations.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Laws, contractual laws, and data privacy.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, environmental, and social governance.
  • Analytical skills and capacity to conduct thorough investigations.
  • PC Proficient with MS Office Excel, MIS, and ERP systems, ideally Oracle.
