Kort McCulley is the Co-Founder of Champions for Cures, a 501(c)(3) charity organization focused on raising funds for cancer research and supporting families affected by cancer. Their mission is to support families and fund clinical trials for cancer treatments. Inspired by a love for golf and a desire to give back to the community, Champions for Cures has grown to become one of the most recognized local charities in the Chicago area, with a goal of raising over $1 million in the fight against cancer.
We are looking for a Virtual Assistant who aligns with the core values of Championing Families, Prudent Stewardship, Operational Excellence, and Creating Memorable Experiences. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping people, especially those impacted by cancer, and should be empathetic and well-organized, particularly in event planning.
This is a hands-on role, where you'll take charge of day-to-day operations and be the "do-er" for the charity. You will balance event coordination with the compassion needed to support families facing difficult circumstances, ensuring smooth execution of events and maintaining clear communication with donors and supporters.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Updating and managing the calendar
- Scheduling team meetings and donor/sponsor follow-up meetings
- Coordinating communications with supporters
- Scheduling social media updates and managing posts
- Project management and tracking deadlines
- Supporting fundraising efforts and donor communications
- Event management and coordination
- Assisting with CRM updates and follow-up communications
- Handling administrative tasks and coordinating with supporters
- Capturing and documenting learnings from events like the annual golf tournament to improve future planning
In addition to the above, the ideal candidate must be/have:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A driven go-getter with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Friendly, outgoing, and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Tech-savvy and quick to adapt to new tools and software
- Self-sufficient and thrive in independent work environments
- Proactive, take initiative, and have strong problem-solving abilities
- Assertive and able to take charge when needed
- Coordinate effectively with the operations team and other stakeholders
- Experience in event planning is highly desirable
Experience with the following tools is a plus:
- Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Teams
- Asana
- Social Media for a business (Instagram, Facebook, X)
Position Details:
- This is a 1099 contractor position
- The position will be 20-25 hours per week
- Hours are Monday - Friday, flexible hours between 8:00 am 5:00 pm CT (ideally 8:00 am 1:00 pm or 12:00 pm 5:00 pm CT)
- The pay rate is $25/hr USD
- You must be able to pass a background check
- We're looking for someone to become a long-term (3+ years) team member
