The Opportunity

You'll provide specialized physical therapy care to pediatric patients in a dedicated outpatient clinic setting. This full-time, direct hire position gives you the chance to make a lasting impact on children's mobility, function, and quality of life while working day shifts alongside a supportive pediatric physical therapy team.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Evaluate and treat pediatric patients by conducting comprehensive assessments, interviewing patients and families, and reviewing physician requisitions to determine physical condition and therapy needs
  • Design and implement individualized treatment programs using corrective exercise, gait training, soft tissue mobility, therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot/cold therapy), and assistive device training
  • Document patient care through evaluation results, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries in accordance with professional and departmental standards
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans, recommend program modifications based on patient progress, and discuss treatment alternatives
  • Instruct patients and families on proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, prosthetic appliances, and home exercise programs
  • Provide guidance to support staff assigned to assist with patient care and treatment implementation
  • Maintain department standards by adhering to policies, procedures, safety protocols, infection control practices, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support equipment care and maintenance for department supplies and therapeutic devices
  • Participate in professional development through educational programs, workshops, in-service meetings, and current literature review

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Current New York State Physical Therapy license or eligibility to obtain licensure at time of hire
  • Physical capability to lift 30 pounds independently and 150 pounds with assistance; role involves appreciable physical effort including lifting, pushing, and pulling
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan: neonate, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Commitment to universal precautions and infection control practices in patient care

Preferred

  • Experience in a hospital setting
