Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and assessments to determine physical therapy needs in an outpatient setting
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with orthopedic, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions
- Administer therapeutic treatments including manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/ice therapy), and pain management techniques
- Provide patient education on exercise programs, injury prevention, posture correction, and home care strategies
- Monitor patient progress throughout rehabilitation and modify treatment plans to optimize functional outcomes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care
- Document treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations and departmental standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment following infection control protocols and safety guidelines
- Empower patients through education to promote long-term wellness and prevent future injuries
Job Requirements
- Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or equivalent from an accredited physical therapy program
- Licensure: Valid Physical Therapist license in New York State or eligibility to obtain licensure at time of hire
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
- Experience: Prior experience in outpatient physical therapy settings preferred
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in orthopedic rehabilitation, manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise prescription, and patient assessment
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Organizational Skills: Strong time-management abilities and attention to detail for documentation and treatment planning
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and up to 150 pounds with assistance; capable of frequent standing, walking, bending, and assisting patients during treatment sessions
- Patient Care: Demonstrated commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care to diverse patient populations
