Stationary Engineer & Multi-Skilled Mechanic - Grade 1 Licensed
We are seeking an experienced and licensed Grade 1 Stationary Engineer with multi-skilled mechanical expertise to join our industrial maintenance team. This dual-role position combines stationary engineering operations with hands-on mechanical maintenance, offering stability, growth potential, and competitive compensation in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Stationary Engineer Operations:
- Operate and maintain industrial boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, and related stationary engineering equipment in accordance with Maryland state regulations and plant requirements
- Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for boiler operations and stationary engineering systems
- Provide reliable boiler coverage and serve as primary or backup Grade 1 Licensed Stationary Engineer as required
- Execute duties outlined in Station Engineer protocols (CSOP-310)
- Complete continuing education requirements to maintain active Grade 1 Stationary Engineer license
- Collaborate with site leadership on equipment optimization and regulatory compliance
Multi-Skilled Mechanical Maintenance:
- Perform pipe-fitting operations including threading, layout, gasket installation, butt-weld preparation, and industrial valve installation and repair
- Execute welding and cutting operations including stick welding (carbon steel and stainless steel), MIG/TIG welding, brazing, soldering, and plasma arc cutting
- Operate machine shop equipment including lathes and milling machines for precision fabrication
- Rebuild and maintain pumps, gearboxes, gear reducers, blowers, conveyors, and related industrial equipment
- Perform rigging operations using forklifts, front-end loaders, hydraulic cranes, chain falls, and lever hoists
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, understanding power theory, circuit protection, and electrical safety protocols
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and equipment documentation
Required Qualifications
- Active Grade 1 Stationary Engineer License issued by the Maryland Board of Stationary Engineers (required)
- 5-8 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility
- Previous experience as a multi-skilled mechanic with demonstrated proficiency in multiple trades
- Proven ability to complete continuing education coursework and examinations for license maintenance
- Strong knowledge of pipe-fitting theory, fluid dynamics, and various piping materials and schedules
- Welding certification or demonstrated welding competency (stick, MIG, TIG) in multiple positions
- Experience with pump rebuilds, gearbox maintenance, and lubrication systems
- Proficiency using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, and dial indicators
- Understanding of rigging safety, load balancing, and proper equipment operation
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory, safety hazards, and proper lockout/tagout procedures
- Forklift and crane operation experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with site leadership and maintenance teams
