The Opportunity
A global industrial manufacturer is seeking an experienced Materials & Purchasing Manager to lead supply chain and production planning operations at a specialized aerospace manufacturing facility in Keene, NH. This is a high-visibility plant leadership role driving materials strategy, inventory performance, and on-time delivery for a complex, precision manufacturing environment. The facility is undergoing a $25M capital investment and expanding its workforce — making this an exceptional time to step in and shape operations at scale.
Your Day-to-Day
- Lead and develop Materials Management teams spanning Production Planning, Scheduling, Logistics, and Inventory Control
- Drive the SIOP process, translating market demand into achievable production schedules and capacity plans
- Build and execute plant-level material planning strategies covering procurement, inventory management, material flow, outsourced processing, packaging, and customer shipments
- Monitor schedule attainment and plant capacity, keeping operations balanced and identifying future resource needs
- Lead initiatives to improve on-time delivery, reduce past-due orders, and strengthen supply chain execution
- Design and implement inventory strategies that optimize service levels while reducing working capital and excess stock
- Champion Lean supply chain initiatives, eliminating waste and improving material flow throughout the operation
- Develop supplier strategies that ensure consistent quality, reliable delivery, and stable material supply
- Translate customer demand into executable master production schedules within operational capacity constraints
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Quality, Operations, and Finance to align commitments and resolve supply chain issues
- Support the Plant Manager in identifying throughput improvements and cost reduction opportunities; serve as occasional Plant Manager backup
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field
- Proven leadership experience managing materials, planning, or supply chain functions in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with production planning, capacity modeling, and master scheduling in complex operations
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems — SAP strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of inventory control, logistics coordination, and supplier management
- Experience applying Lean manufacturing or Lean supply chain principles
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert operational data into clear, actionable decisions
- Effective communicator and collaborator across operations, finance, sales, and supply chain
- APICS certification and/or MBA preferred
