Dean of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program – Nursing Education Leadership Position
We are seeking an accomplished nursing education leader to serve as Dean of our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. As Dean of Nursing, you will provide strategic leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster excellence in nursing curriculum and clinical education.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Administration
- Provide comprehensive oversight of the BSN nursing program, including supervision, strategic planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all nursing education activities
- Manage nursing program budget, faculty, staff, and operational resources
- Ensure compliance with Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) rules, regulations, accreditation standards, and site visit requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain program policies, procedures, faculty handbooks, and student handbooks
- Prepare state and Board reports, self-studies, surveys, proposals, and site visit documentation
- Maintain accurate student and faculty records; coordinate with Human Resources on credentialing and qualification documentation
- Identify and secure external funding and resources for nursing program enhancement
Curriculum Development & Academic Quality
- Lead nursing curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor instructional quality and participate in faculty evaluation and program assessment
- Develop articulation agreements with colleges and universities for course transfer and program pathways
- Ensure procurement of supplies, equipment, and learning resources to meet program objectives
- Oversee skills lab and simulation facilities to support competency-based nursing education
Clinical Education & Partnerships
- Serve as clinical site liaison; develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare facilities and clinical agencies
- Negotiate and manage clinical affiliation agreements and contracts with hospital systems and healthcare organizations
- Conduct or delegate clinical site evaluations assessing objectives, patient safety, risk management, and staffing adequacy
- Coordinate student placement, faculty assignments, clinical schedules, rotations, and learning objectives with clinical partners
- Submit required BRN clinical approval forms and maintain compliance documentation
- Ensure post-rotation evaluations from students, clinical sites, and faculty; provide summary reports to leadership
- Document and maintain minutes of inter-agency meetings and clinical partnership activities
Faculty Development & Management
- Participate in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, credentialing, and onboarding
- Facilitate regular nursing faculty meetings with documented minutes
- Provide conflict resolution and mediation for faculty and students
- Support faculty professional development and teaching excellence
- Foster a collaborative, team-based leadership approach
Student Services & Academic Advising
- Oversee nursing student admission process and new student orientation programs
- Provide academic advising, degree planning, and student support services
- Advocate for student success and address student concerns
- Manage student appeals, grievances, and conflict resolution according to institutional policies
- Ensure students are properly oriented to skills lab and clinical facilities before rotations
- Verify students meet all graduation requirements and NCLEX-RN licensure examination eligibility
- Participate in recruitment and admission planning for qualified nursing students
Program Assessment & Outcomes
- Conduct Nursing Advisory Committee meetings with healthcare partners and stakeholders
- Track and report student performance metrics, NCLEX-RN pass rates, graduation rates, and job placement outcomes
- Participate in strategic planning and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Implement program evaluation processes and data-driven decision making
Community Engagement & Professional Development
- Build community relationships and serve as liaison between healthcare community and the college
- Market and advocate for nursing programs to prospective students and community partners
- Maintain active membership in professional nursing organizations and associations
- Represent nursing program interests with other college departments including counseling, registration, and financial aid
- Organize and serve on program committees and college-wide initiatives
Required Qualifications
Licensure & Education
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where campus is located
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with coursework in nursing, nursing education, or healthcare administration (MSN, MHA, MBA, EdD, PhD, or DNP preferred)
Professional Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a nursing administration or leadership position
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in pre-licensure or post-licensure nursing education programs
- At least two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care or equivalent experience
- Experience in supervision, strategic planning, budget preparation, and fiscal management
