Vice President of Medical Affairs | Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) to join our leadership team. Reporting to the CEO, the VPMA will serve as the medical launch leader for Veradermics first product and functional head of the Medical Affairs team. This leader will hold sole accountability for planning and executing the medical launch and associated medical communications strategy. This is a role for a builder; someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings deep expertise in medical communications, MSL team development, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate has experience building or scaling a medical affairs function, managing MSL teams, and playing a key role in preparing for launch in dermatology or aesthetics. They will serve as the internal subject matter expert (SME) on Medical Affairs and bring both strategic vision and launch czar urgency to ensure internal alignment and timely execution. This individual will shape and lead Veradermics integrated medical communications strategy, act as a cross-functional thought partner, and elevate the voice of the patient and provider to inform internal strategy.

Medical Affairs Leadership and Launch Planning

  • Serve as Medical Affairs Launch Leader for Veradermics first therapeutic candidate, currently in late-stage clinical development.
  • Own Medical Affairs launch strategy and execution across internal teams and external partners, serving as the single accountable leader for medical launch success.
  • Lead development and execution of the Integrated Medical Communications Plan, including stakeholder engagement strategy, scientific platform alignment, medical information platform, publication planning, data dissemination, patient advocacy, and field team coordination.
  • Shape the scientific platform and publication strategy in partnership with internal SMEs and external agencies, ensuring alignment with broader communications goals.
  • Guide the use and deployment of medical information, content and field resources.
  • Define and operationalize medical launch priorities in collaboration with Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, and Program Management teams.
  • Ensure cross-functional momentum and urgency around launch milestones, acting as the internal drumbeat for execution.
  • Translate patient and provider insights into internal strategies that drive scientific and commercial execution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Strategy

  • Act as the internal subject matter expert for Medical Affairs, ensuring medical strategy is tightly aligned with clinical development and commercial goals.
  • Actively shape internal decision-making based on insights from the field, patients, and the medical community.
  • Collaborate with Commercial colleagues to ensure medical insights and field experience inform go-to-market strategies.
  • Interface with Regulatory and Clinical functions to maintain scientific integrity and compliance in all medical communications and field activities.
  • Partner with the Program Management Office to drive medical deliverables, timelines, and coordination across functions.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and manage a growing Medical Affairs function, including direct oversight of an Associate Director of Medical Affairs and the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in a roll-up-your-sleeves environment, with the judgment to prioritize what should be built in-house vs. partnered.
  • Build or scale the MSL team with a clear approach to field effectiveness, performance management, and scientific exchange strategy.
  • Ensure strategic oversight across all Medical Affairs workstreams-not just field operations-so the function operates as a unified, high-impact unit.
  • Foster a high-performance, mission-driven team culture grounded in scientific excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and patient-centered thinking, while offering mentorship and growth opportunities as the team expands.

Candidate Profile | Who You Are

  • 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with significant leadership experience in Medical Affairs.
  • Proven track record developing and executing integrated medical communications and launch plans.
  • Experience building from scratch or scaling field teams, with a deep operational understanding of how to structure and manage MSL performance and impact.
  • Deep understanding of cross-functional launch planning and medical-commercial collaboration.
  • Strategic mindset paired with a roll-up-your-sleeves approach to execution.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as both strategic partner and launch driver, balancing long-term vision with day-to-day momentum and accountability.
  • Experience in dermatology, aesthetics, or consumer-sensitive therapeutic areas highly preferred.
  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD) preferred; candidates with deep functional experience in medical affairs will also be considered.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
