1. Role Summary

The Indirect Material Coordinator is an essential component of the Supply Chain Management

organization, organizing the efficient distribution of indirect (or non-BOM) materials, encompassing

certain chemicals, consumables, and tools to various sites. Beyond ensuring timely deliveries, this role is

key in upholding the compliance standards for tool inspection and calibration. Acting as a vital conduit

between the internal stakeholders and the SCM team, the Indirect Material Coordinator consistently

provides timely updates on planned activities, delivery dates, PO statuses, and promise dates, and

managing escalations.

2. Essential Responsibilities

Ensure distribution of indirect materials, prioritizing according to site needs and optimizing

distribution.

Maintain strict compliance standards for inspection and calibration of tools, liaising with quality

assurance teams to ensure every tool meets the set criteria.

Regularly update internal stakeholders on planned activities, imminent delivery dates, the status

of purchase orders, and promise dates, ensuring transparency and trust.

Act as the primary point of escalation for any logistical challenges, coordinating with the SCM

team to resolve issues and mitigate potential risks.

Collaborate closely with suppliers and transport partners to ensure timely delivery of materials

and tools, while also focusing on cost-effective solutions.

Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records of chemicals, consumables, and tools, ensuring

they align with real-time stock levels.

Facilitate periodic reviews with the SCM team, driving continuous improvement in logistics

processes and strategies.

Follow industry trends, changes in compliance standards, and emerging technologies that could

enhance the efficiency of logistical operations.

Foster strong relationships with internal customers to understand their needs, address concerns,

and gather feedback for process enhancements.

Support site in properly placing orders in the correct systems with correct information.

3. Nature and scope of responsibilities exercised

a) Responsibilities and leeway

The Indirect Material Coordinator is entrusted with a multi-faceted responsibility, from ensuring smooth

material distribution to maintaining compliance standards. This role requires a delicate balance of

proactive planning and reactive problem-solving, often necessitating collaboration with various internal

and external stakeholders. They work closely with Sourcing and Procurement to evaluate supplier

performance and implement corrective actions.

Internal links: Site Operations & Maintenance Team, Site Planning team, Stores/Warehouses Team (local

and central), Procurement, Sourcing, EHS Team (local and central)

External links: Key External Material Suppliers, Logistics subcontractors, Key External Service Suppliers

c) Specific professional skills

Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.

Knowledge of compliance standards for tool inspection and calibration.

Proficiency in supply chain and asset management software and tools, ensuring efficient planning

and tracking.

Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to manage escalations and foster trust among

stakeholders.

A strategic mindset, constantly looking for opportunities to streamline processes and optimize

overall costs to business.

Very organized, rigorous, proactive, and oriented to maintain a high level of safety and quality in

the warehouse.

Experience or familiarity with international shipping regulations and customs.

Very good command of English (written and oral).

d) EHS Prerequisites

Every GE employee must respect and promote a strong safety culture that includes:

Ability to support and improve GE's EHS policy.

Strong ability to stop work in the event of an EHS risk.

Knowledge of EHS risks incurred during offshore or onshore activity (if applicable)

Ability to report EHS topics.

Knowledge of the EHS responsibilities held - and the guarantee of maintaining EHS skills within

  • Possible Salary We have budget for £500.00 per day (this is to include your fee)
  • Project Duration We have approval until June 2026 but likely this will be extended
