  • Streamwood, IL Elementary (2 schools): Autism/ELL, General Education
  • South Elgin & Streamwood, IL Elementary General Education, Mild Intellectual Impairment, and High School

Shift Hours: 7.5 hours daily; start and end times vary by school assignment, typically between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Job Overview

We are seeking passionate and dedicated School Social Workers to join our dynamic team and make a lasting impact on students' lives. The ideal candidate will provide critical social and emotional support, prioritize special education needs as mandated by IEPs, and assist students in overcoming social-emotional and behavioral challenges within a supportive, collaborative framework.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Support to Students:
  • Provide individualized and group social/emotional support, prioritizing special education as outlined in IEPs.
  • Support students struggling with social-emotional and behavioral challenges through the MTSS framework.
  • Behavioral Interventions:
  • Assist in developing behavioral intervention strategies, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Social-Emotional Advocacy:
  • Advocate for students with school staff and administration to ensure a supportive learning environment.
  • Mobilize school and community resources to address student needs.
  • Case Study Preparation:
  • Prepare Social Developmental Studies during case studies and re-evaluations to assess students' social-emotional status.
  • Crisis Management:
  • Provide timely interventions for students in crisis.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
  • Consult with teachers and staff to address classroom and individual student concerns.
  • Assist teachers with classroom intervention strategies.
  • Participate in Service Team meetings to represent the social-emotional aspect of students' educational experiences.
  • Parent and Community Support:
  • Address parent concerns and connect families with appropriate community resources.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and resources for additional student support.
  • Professional Development:
  • Offer professional training for staff and community education opportunities.
  • Other Duties:
  • Perform data collection and recordkeeping to monitor student progress.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work (Required).
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Work endorsement (Required).
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills, written and verbal, are highly preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of School Social Work policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Leadership skills in facilitating group discussions, listening, and resolving conflicts.
  • Proficiency in socio-environmental analysis and diagnosing social/emotional concerns.
  • Understanding of state laws and regulations regarding student proficiency standards.
  • Previous experience in School Social Work is highly preferred.
