The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all maintenance activities across Plasma Logistics Center (PLC), Laboratory and plasma donation centers located in different governorates in Egypt. This role ensures the continuous, safe, and compliant operation of all facilities, utilities, and critical systems in accordance with applicable regulatory, quality, safety, and operational requirements.

  • Internal: Medical staff, quality assurance, finance, procurement, and operations teams.
  • External: Maintenance service provider

Key responsibility

1. Maintenance Strategy & Operations

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all plasma donation centers.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of building infrastructure, utilities, and critical systems, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, generators, UPS, fire protection, and BMS.
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations across multiple sites to ensure timely response to breakdowns and minimal operational downtime.
  • Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and KPIs aligned with organizational goals and regulatory expectations.

2. Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, coach, and manage a large team of maintenance leads and senior engineers across electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
  • Set clear objectives, responsibilities, and performance expectations for site-based maintenance teams.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support technical and leadership development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork across all maintenance functions.

3. Contractor & Service Provider Management

  • Manage and supervise multiple outsourced maintenance service provider companies across different governorates.
  • Review and approve maintenance contracts, scopes of work, SLAs, and KPIs.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise vendor activities, including corrective works, preventive maintenance, testing, commissioning, and specialized services.

4. Compliance, Quality & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable Egyptian laws and regulations, health authority requirements, and internal quality management system standards.
  • Support compliance with GMP, GDP, GxP and donor safety requirements where applicable.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented, validated when required, and auditable.
  • Promote and enforce strict adherence to HSE policies, risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and site safety rules.

5. Asset & Facility Management

  • Maintain an accurate asset register for all plasma donation centers, including lifecycle status and criticality assessments.
  • Plan and manage equipment replacement, upgrades, refurbishments, and facility improvements.
  • Support capital projects, new center openings, renovations, and expansions from a maintenance and technical perspective.
  • Ensure proper testing and validation of critical systems.

6. Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget across all sites.
  • Control maintenance costs while maintaining high levels of reliability, safety, and compliance.
  • Analyze maintenance data, breakdown trends, and cost drivers to optimize resource utilization and reduce long-term operating costs.

7. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and present regular maintenance performance reports, including KPIs, risks, incidents, and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis for major incidents, breakdowns, and deviations.
  • Drive CAPA implementation related to maintenance, engineering, and facility systems.
  • Implement best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives across all centers.

Academic experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent).
  • Professional certifications in facilities management, maintenance management, or HSE are an advantage.

Professional Experience Required

  • Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in maintenance and facilities management.
  • Proven experience managing multi-site operations across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Demonstrated leadership of large, multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
  • Strong experience overseeing and coordinating multiple external service providers and contractors.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, blood/plasma centers, or regulated facility environments is highly preferred.

Computing Skills

  • Proficient in maintenance management systems (CMMS), reporting tools, and MS Office.
  • SAP key user

Personal Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of building services and critical facility systems.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, audits, and quality systems.
  • High level of planning, organization, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Financial experience in budgeting, and cost‑control skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities across multiple sites.
