Role Overview:

The P/C Wastewater Operator – N2 Licensed is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of physical/chemical treatment systems under the supervision of a project manager. This role supports multiple field locations and requires strong experience in system operations, maintenance, compliance, and reporting.

This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring the ability to operate and monitor treatment systems, perform maintenance and troubleshooting, manage chemicals, and ensure compliance with all regulatory discharge limits. The ideal candidate brings operational experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Field-Based – Supporting Essex, Hudson & Union Counties, NJ

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience in wastewater treatment, environmental services, or industrial process operations.
  • N2 License required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with treatment systems, process equipment, meters, and gauges.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a field-based environment under supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, perform daily job hazard assessments, and ensure systems meet discharge limits.
  • System Operation: Operate, inspect, and monitor process equipment, meters, and gauges, recording system data and HMI settings.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, and piping, and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate logbooks and reports, documenting system performance and operational data using Microsoft Office.
  • Chemical Management: Oversee chemical off-loading, maintain inventory, optimize dosing, and ensure proper labeling and disposal of waste.
  • Sampling: Collect water samples, complete Chain of Custody forms, label samples, and coordinate delivery to labs or couriers.
  • Communication: Report system issues, noncompliance, or safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
