Role Overview
The Vice President – Preventive Health Education Programme will provide visionary leadership to a flagship portfolio, driving innovation, scale, and measurable impact in adolescent health. The portfolio encompasses Tobacco Control, Nutrition, Mental Wellbeing, and other emerging areas of preventive health. The Vice President will shape long-term strategy while ensuring execution excellence, building programmes that influence systems, strengthen government ownership, and improve health outcomes for adolescents nationwide.
This role requires an exceptional leader who combines strategic thinking with operational excellence, understands the public health ecosystem, inspires teams, and builds trusted relationships with governments, donors, academic institutions, and development partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and lead the long-term vision and growth strategy for the Preventive Health Education Programme.
  • Anticipate emerging adolescent health challenges and translate them into innovative, evidence-based interventions.
  • Build scalable programme models that influence policy, strengthen public systems, and create sustainable impact.
  • Position the organization as a national thought leader in adolescent preventive health.
2. Programme Innovation & Excellence
  • Provide strategic oversight of programmes in Tobacco Control, Nutrition, Mental Wellbeing, and related thematic areas.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by leveraging technology and integrating global best practices.
  • Ensure high-quality implementation through robust planning, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous learning.
  • Promote evidence generation, research, and impact measurement to inform programme refinement and advocacy.
3. Government & Policy Engagement
  • Build and nurture strong partnerships with Central, State, and local government departments.
  • Support policy dialogue and contribute to national and state-level public health priorities.
  • Represent the organization in national and international forums, technical working groups, and advisory committees.
  • Strengthen collaboration with institutions such as ministries, research organizations, universities, and technical agencies.
4. Partnerships & Resource Mobilisation
  • Build strategic partnerships with donors, CSR organizations, foundations, multilaterals, and development agencies.
  • Support fundraising by shaping compelling proposals, programme concepts, and strategic partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to expand programme reach and secure sustainable funding.
5. Leadership & Organisational Development
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary teams across programme locations.
  • Build a high-performance culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, accountability, and learning.
  • Strengthen leadership capacity within the organization and promote cross-functional collaboration.
Qualification & Experience Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nutrition, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in public health, preferably with significant focus on adolescent health, school health, or health systems.
  • Programme Scale: Demonstrated experience in designing and scaling large-scale public health programmes.
  • Policy & Stakeholder Management: Strong understanding of government systems, public policy, and multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • People Management: Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex external partnerships.
Success Measures (Key Performance Indicators)
Within the first 3 years, the Vice President is expected to achieve the following outcomes:
  1. Strengthen the organization's position as a national leader in adolescent preventive health.
  2. Expand the scale and quality of preventive health programmes across multiple states.
  3. Develop innovative, evidence-based models that actively influence policy and public systems.
  4. Build enduring partnerships with governments, donors, and technical institutions.
  5. Deliver measurable improvements in adolescent health outcomes through high-quality programme implementation.
  6. Build a motivated, high-performing team that consistently delivers excellence.
