About the role:
The Programme Manager – Legal Programmes & Partnerships will lead and strengthen legal aid and labour justice programmes across Western India. This role focuses on programme leadership, coordination, and the translation of legal support into measurable outcomes for workers. The ideal candidate is passionate about designing, managing, and scaling rights-based initiatives while working closely with field teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Design & Management
- Plan, implement, and monitor legal aid and legal education programmes.
- Ensure timely delivery of programme goals, budgets, and outputs across multiple geographic locations.
- Strengthen internal systems for tracking cases, learning, and overall impact.
Partnerships & Expansion
- Build and manage relationships with workers’ collectives, lawyers, law schools, and civil society organizations.
- Identify new sectors and geographies to expand access to legal aid.
- Support the design of collaborative models, including legal fellowships and para-legal programmes.
Team Coordination & Capacity Building
- Work closely with legal executives, field teams, and para-legal workers across various centers.
- Facilitate training and mentoring to build the capacity of staff and partners.
- Coordinate between legal teams and other internal programme verticals.
Research, Learning & Advocacy
- Guide documentation and research regarding labour justice and legal systems.
- Use programme insights to inform policy engagement and external advocacy.
- Represent the organization in networks, forums, and policy discussions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 7–9 years of programme management experience in legal aid, labour rights, human rights, or the development sector.
- Education: A background in law (LLB/LLM) is preferred, though strong experience in rights-based programme management will be considered.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing multi-location programmes and complex partnerships.
- Communication: Fluency in both English and Hindi (spoken and written) is required.
- Travel: Willingness to travel regularly across programme locations.
- Regional Knowledge: Experience working in Rajasthan or Gujarat is considered an advantage.
