About the role:

The primary objective of this role is to improve the quality of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) for children aged 3-6 years, with a specific focus on Anganwadi centres. As a key member of a newly established strategic initiative, the Lead will play a vital role in establishing, strengthening, and expanding the programme across multiple states. This position is responsible for programme implementation, working in close coordination with state teams and other programme leads.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead the project management function and oversee the implementation of key strategic initiatives.

  • Develop a comprehensive project management framework and implementation plan to ensure alignment between field partners, technical partners, and internal teams.

  • Support State Programme Managers in implementing the programme through joint planning and periodic reviews with Government departments and partners. 

Programme Oversight & Monitoring

  • Establish monitoring mechanisms to assess the quality, effectiveness, and fidelity of programme implementation.

  • Conduct regular field visits and periodic reviews to ensure delivery against agreed milestones and targets.

  • Identify implementation gaps and take necessary corrective measures to ensure project success.

  • Build and maintain a risk register to proactively identify and manage programme risks. 

Partnerships & Capacity Building

  • Assist the Partnerships Lead in identifying and onboarding partners for field implementation and technical support.

  • Provide technical support and build the capacity of partners to ensure effective programme delivery.

  • Iterate and improve activities and processes based on field learnings and identified gaps. 

Innovations & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Design and facilitate innovation processes by identifying opportunities based on stakeholder needs, research, and new technology.

  • Collaborate with partners to prototype and test new ideas.

  • Work with Communications and Research teams to highlight programme insights and overall impact. 

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • Planning: Development of implementation plans, budgets, and trackers aligned with the ECCE strategy.

  • Review: Timely reporting of results and successful periodic reviews of project implementation.

  • Compliance: Effective tracking of partner outputs and corresponding financial expenditures.

Knowledge and Competencies:

Education & Experience

  • Required Education: Post Graduate degree in Education, Social Work, Social Science, Rural Management, or a relevant field.

  • Desired Education: Qualifications in Early Childhood Development, Engineering, Computer Science, or IT/ITES.

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a track record of managing complex programmes and leading operations.

  • Sector Expertise: Experience in managing large-scale education or ECCE programmes is essential.

  • Government Relations: Experience working with Women and Child Development (WCD) or Education departments.

  • Technology: Experience in developing technology solutions for the development sector or creating "smart" schools/Anganwadis is preferred.

Functional Competencies

  • Proficiency in English; working knowledge of Hindi is an advantage.

  • Excellent project management, coordination, and result-oriented delivery skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with Project Management software, Human-Centred Design methods, and new educational technologies.
