Role Overview
The Manager – Finance & Accounts will work closely with the leadership team, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to manage and execute all financial, accounting, and statutory compliance processes typical of a fast-growing non-profit organization.
This role requires a multi-skilled, self-motivated professional who takes ownership of financial reporting and compliance while operating comfortably in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including cash flow statements, in compliance with applicable laws and accounting standards.
- Work closely with Program Heads to prepare, manage, and track program-specific monthly budgets.
- Maintain operating responsibility for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and payroll processing.
- Maintain real-time donor financial data, ensuring timely donor reporting, due diligence, and compliance with CSR donor guidelines.
2. Statutory Compliance & Audits
- Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar to ensure all statutory requirements are met without delay.
- Ensure strict adherence to accounting guidelines prescribed under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA).
- Track, process, and file all statutory dues including TDS, EPF, ESIC, Professional Tax (PT), and related tax obligations on time.
- Drive preparations for statutory, FCRA, internal, and donor audits, managing relationships with external audit teams.
3. Banking & Operations
- Oversee all organizational banking operations, ensure timely documentation, and maintain updated bank reconciliations.
- Ensure appropriate internal controls and payment clearance workflows are rigorously implemented.
- Coordinate directly with external outsourced agencies contracted for finance, tax, or compliance support.
- Present accurate, concise financial summaries and compliance reports to the CEO and Board of Directors to facilitate decision-making.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
- Education: M.Com or equivalent Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
- Experience: 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in financial management, accounting, and compliance within non-profit organizations or development sector entities of reasonable scale.
- Compliance Knowledge: Deep familiarity with FCRA rules, CSR funding compliance, statutory tax withholdings, and non-profit regulatory frameworks.

- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated experience handling internal program teams, external donors, auditors, and government agencies.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong foundation in modern financial reporting, with the ability to summarize complex data into actionable insights for leadership.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Work Ethic: High sense of ownership, adaptability, and comfort navigating an organization in a growth or build-up phase.
