Position Summary
Org seeks a visionary and experienced Project Director to lead its Resource Centre for Women and Girls. As the most senior operational manager, you'll ensure the successful leadership and management of the Centre and allied programs, aligning with the Board of Trustees' strategic direction. You'll act as a crucial liaison between the Board, especially the Managing Trustee, and the operational teams, providing regular updates and collaborating on strategic solutions for complex challenges. This role offers the opportunity to drive Vacha's mission, representing the organization and ensuring its continued impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Act as a spokesperson, conduct official correspondence, and represent Vacha to enhance its community profile.
- Operational Management: Oversee efficient daily operations, draft and review policies, and inform the Board of internal and external issues affecting the organization.
- Program Oversight: Plan, implement, and evaluate the Resource Centre's programs and services, ensuring they align with Vacha's mission and maintain high quality. This includes overseeing special projects.
- Human Resources: Determine staffing needs (consultants), implement HR policies, foster a positive and safe work environment, recruit, mentor, and train team members, and manage performance.
- Financial Management: Collaborate on budget preparation, secure funding, administer funds, ensure compliance with legislation, and potentially commission research on girls' issues.
- Community Relations & Advocacy: Communicate with stakeholders, build collaborative relationships, and advocate for Vacha's goals within the community.
Requirements
This position is open to women candidates only.
- Education: Masters degree in Social Sciences/Developmental field from a reputed institution.
- Experience: Minimum ten years in an equivalent position within NGOs focusing on women/children/youth issues, with a preference for gender domain experience.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential; working knowledge of Hindi and Marathi is required.
- Values Alignment: Passion for womens rights and alignment with feminist and gender ideology.
- Expertise: Prior experience in gender justice issues (including engaging men and boys), knowledge of participatory processes, organizational development, community-based methodology, grassroots culture, and strengthening minority voices.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient with computers and other digital devices.
- Travel: Willingness to travel for field visits, training, networking, and project monitoring (residential/non-residential).
