Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for an Outpatient Coder! This is a remote position where you will review clinical documentation and assign diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient medical records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Interventional Radiology coding experience is a major plus.
What You'll Do
Review clinical documentation to assign ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, and modifiers for outpatient records.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant coding to support billing, reporting, research, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor documentation turnaround time and productivity; follow up on deferred accounts and coordinate with physicians/clinical staff as needed.
Generate reports and analyze data related to E/M code utilization, CPT application, denials, and reimbursement.
Provide coding feedback to providers, clinical leaders, and the revenue cycle team.
Support coding educators with documentation improvement initiatives.
Escalate issues to revenue cycle leadership and assist with corrective action plans.
Contribute to workflow updates and the development of coding tools.
Partner with the denial team on coding-related denials.
Participate in special projects as assigned.
What You Bring to the Role
Certification Required: AHIMA certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS).
Experience: Strong academic and regional medical center coding experience required.
Preferred: Interventional Radiology coding experience.
Proven knowledge of ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding standards, payer guidelines, and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to provide feedback and collaborate across teams.
Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position is $35.00-$45.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
