Job Title: Workday Security Lead
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Location: Remote
What You'll Do:
As the Workday Security Lead, you will oversee the strategic design and governance of scalable Workday security frameworks across HCM, Financials, Payroll, Adaptive Planning, and future modules. You'll act as a subject matter expert in Workday security architecture, access control, and compliance — ensuring that the organization's Workday ecosystem remains secure, compliant, and optimized for performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Security Architecture & Frameworks: Lead the design and governance of scalable Workday security frameworks across all modules (HCM, FIN, Payroll, Adaptive Planning, etc.).
- Configuration: Perform hands-on configuration of Workday security settings, including user access, security groups, and domain/business process policies.
- Access Control: Define and refine access control policies and user provisioning processes across the enterprise. Conduct biannual User Access Reviews (UARs).
- Compliance & Audit Leadership: Own SOX and GDPR compliance initiatives. Partner with internal GRC and audit teams to lead readiness and remediation efforts.
- Security Reviews: Lead and approve architecture and design reviews for new Workday initiatives and integrations.
- Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve Workday security issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with Workday community updates, security best practices, and new features — ensuring proactive implementation.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of security architecture, SOPs, change controls, and audit logs.
What You Bring to the Role:
- 5–7 years of Workday Security experience with expertise across multiple modules.
- 2–3 years leading Workday Security initiatives in a global enterprise.
- Deep understanding of Workday security models, intersection security, role-based configurations, and user access management.
- Proven experience leading SOX compliance or audit remediation projects.
- Strong knowledge of security control frameworks and risk management principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex security issues and design practical, sustainable solutions.
Soft Skills:
- Leadership presence with the ability to influence without authority.
- Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving.
- Clear and assertive communication skills across technical and business stakeholders.
- Excellent documentation, organization, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Workday certifications in Security, HCM, or Financials.
- Prior experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, or logistics).
