Compensation


  • Base Salary: $250,000 - $285,000 (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities


Contractual Advisory

  • Interpret construction contract terms

  • Advise on scope of contractual responsibilities

New York Construction Law

  • File and discharge mechanics liens under NY Mechanics Lien Law

  • Advise on New York Trust Fund statutes

Dispute Resolution

  • Represent clients in:

  • New York State and Federal Courts

  • AAA arbitration

  • Mediations

Substantive Litigation Work

  • Participate in trial and arbitration proceedings

  • Draft and file pleadings (complaints, answers, etc.)

  • Handle discovery (interrogatories, document production, e-discovery review)

  • Draft, brief, and argue motions to dismiss and for summary judgment

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Prepare fact and expert witnesses for hearings or trial

  • Draft mediation statements

  • Prepare trial and arbitration materials (exhibit lists, witness prep)

Construction Contracts

  • Draft and negotiate:

  • General contracts

  • Construction management agreements

  • Subcontractor agreements

  • Professional services and consulting agreements

  • AIA and DBIA form contracts


Must-have qualifications

  • 5-7 years of complex litigation experience focused on construction

  • Expertise in NY mechanics lien and trust fund statutes

  • Direct trial or arbitration experience

  • Strong legal writing and research capabilities

  • Experience in contract drafting and negotiation for construction agreements

  • Admitted to practice in New York
