We are looking for an experienced General Ledger Supervisor to join the Finance Shared Services team supporting GUS Germany, a network of international universities. In this role, you will lead the general ledger and financial close processes for multiple universities, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records. You will supervise a young and dynamic accounting team while working closely with global stakeholders to deliver accurate financial reporting and continuous process improvements.

This role is ideal for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who has strong experience in general accounting, financial close, and team leadership, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multicultural shared services environment.


Job Responsibilities:

    General Ledger Management

    • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of general ledger transactions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and G/L postings.
    • Manage accounting areas such as fixed assets, depreciation, cost center allocations, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and intercompany transactions.
    • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the accounting team.
    • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
      

    Financial Close & Reporting

    • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process for multiple university entities.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
    • Analyse financial results and investigate variances, discrepancies, or unusual transactions.
    • Ensure all general ledger accounts are reconciled and supported by proper documentation.


    Audit & Compliance

    • Lead the preparation of schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
    • Respond to audit inquiries and ad hoc financial information requests from stakeholders. 

    • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.


    Team Leadership

    • Supervise, guide, and mentor members of the General Ledger accounting team.
    • Review team output to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to deadlines.

    • Support the professional development of team members through coaching and knowledge sharing.

       

Process Improvement & Collaboration

    • Identify and implement process improvements within the general ledger and financial reporting functions.
    • Participate in finance transformation initiatives, system improvements, and cross-functional projects.
    • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, and other finance teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
      

Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience supervising or managing accounting teams
  • Proven experience managing monthly and year-end financial close processes
  • Experience in multi-entity accounting, shared services, or multinational organizations is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of General Ledger Accounting. Experience with account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial statement preparation. Knowledge of fixed assets accounting, depreciation, intercompany transactions, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, formulas, and financial analysis
  • Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems
  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential financial information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and fast-paced shared services environment
    

Work Arrangement

  • This is an onsite work for 4 months and will transition to a hybrid schedule (2x a week) after passing the 3rd-month review. 
  • Work Location: Robinsons Zeta Tower, C5 Road, Ugong Norte, Quezon City. Office is near IPI Pasig and Tiendesitas. Office is accessible from Eastwood, C5 Road, Ortigas CBD, and Rizal areas.
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 11AM to 8PM PH time
