Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager / Operations Manager to lead sales growth, client engagement, and day-to-day logistics operations. This hybrid role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage both external relationships and internal workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development (50%)

  • Identify and secure new shipper clients through cold outreach, networking, referrals, and industry events.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to grow revenue and expand our service offerings.
  • Prepare and deliver customized sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
  • Track sales pipeline activities and conversion metrics using CRM tools.
  • Negotiate pricing and service agreements that align with company goals.

Operations Management (50%)

  • Oversee daily freight brokerage operations including load booking, dispatch, carrier sourcing, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure high service levels by maintaining strong relationships with carriers and customers.
  • Manage and mentor logistics coordinators and dispatchers to achieve KPIs.
  • Optimize operational workflows, cost efficiency, and service performance.
  • Collaborate with accounting on billing, invoicing, and collections.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in non-asset freight brokerage or transportation logistics.
  • Proven success in business development or sales within the transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of freight markets, load boards and TMS platforms.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience leading or managing a team in a logistics or brokerage setting.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive process improvements.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing book of business or established shipper/carrier relationships.
  • Familiarity with non-asset brokerage operations and compliance best practices.
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred, not required).
