About the job Tug / Shunter Driver Night Shift
Job Overview
As a Heavy Goods Tug/Shunter Vehicle Driver, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our transport and logistics depot, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of trailers within the depot yard. Working closely with warehouse staff, transport coordinators, and depot management, you will help to streamline loading, unloading, and dispatch processes to facilitate smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities
Trailer and Vehicle Movements: Safely operate the tug/shunter vehicle to move trailers around the depot yard, aligning with scheduled loading and unloading activities.
Loading Dock Coordination: Assist in positioning trailers accurately for loading and unloading, working closely with warehouse operatives to maximise efficiency.
Inspection and Maintenance: Perform routine pre-shift checks on the tug/shunter vehicle, ensuring that it is in proper working condition. Report any faults, damage, or required maintenance immediately to the depot management team.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
Skills and Experience
Experience not necessary as full training will be provided.
Experience reversing any type of trailer, farm machinery or prior tug driving would be an advantage.
Training:
Training will be provided to the highest level to the successful candidate, including those without prior experience.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work in a shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, as required by depot operations.
Age requirements: candidates must be over 18 years of age.
