Job Title: Confectionery Product Developer, Wigan
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Confectionery Product Developer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of the product development department, you will play a pivotal role in creating, enhancing, and optimising our confectionery product line. The ideal candidate will have a passion for confectionery, a creative mindset and a strong background in product development within the food industry.
We haven't put the salary on the role; whilst we want to be transparent, we also don't want to rule anyone out because of salary. We will discuss this with you when we have a conversation.
New Product Development:
- Lead the conceptualisation, design, and development of new confectionery products that align with market trends, customer preferences and the company's strategic goals.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor products and consumer demands.
Recipe Formulation and Optimisation:
- Developed and refined concept ideas for confectionery products, ensuring a balance of taste, texture, and visual appeal.
- Collaborate with our manufacturing partners to source high-quality ingredients and explore innovative solutions for product improvement.
- Implement and drive product quality standards for your products to ensure consistency and excellence are maintained, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with the technical team to address any issues related to product quality, safety, or compliance.
- Collaborate with the Commercial team to manage product costs effectively, ensuring that new product development activity aligns with budgetary constraints.
- Organise and conduct consumer sensory evaluation panels to gather feedback on product attributes and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement and innovation.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of your projects, including customer and manufacturer communications and critical paths.
- Generate reports on product development progress, challenges, and successes for regular review by management.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Stay informed about relevant industry regulations, certifications, and food safety standards to ensure product compliance.
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
Proven experience in product development within the food industry in a similar product area essential.
Customer facing experience with retail customers, ideally Marks and Spencer will be an advantage.
Strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and production processes.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Creative mindset with a passion for staying updated on industry trends.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy in documentation.
Must hold a UK Driving License with own car.
