Position Overview

The Remote Transcriptionist is responsible for accurately converting audio recordings and dictated notes into clear, well‑formatted written documents that become part of the medical and administrative record. Working from home, this role supports providers and administrative staff by ensuring timely, accurate, and confidential documentation. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, an excellent listener and typist, and comfortable working with medical terminology in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Transcribe audio recordings, dictations, and voice notes into accurate, properly formatted written reports, letters, and other documents.

Review and edit drafts for grammar, clarity, spelling, punctuation, and consistency with organizational standards.

Ensure that all transcribed documents accurately reflect the content and intent of the original dictation.

Use appropriate medical terminology, abbreviations, and formatting based on HSNT guidelines and industry standards.

Verify patient identifiers and other key data points in documents to prevent errors and misfiling.

Maintain turnaround times that meet or exceed departmental standards and provider needs.

Handle confidential patient and organizational information in compliance with HIPAA and internal privacy policies.

Communicate with providers or designated staff to clarify unclear audio, missing information, or inconsistencies.

Organize and upload completed documents into the correct electronic health record (EHR) or document management system.

Follow established style guides, templates, and workflows to ensure consistent documentation across the organization.

Participate in remote trainings, quality reviews, and team meetings as required.

Adhere to all remote work and data security requirements, including use of secure systems and a private workspace.

Required Qualifications


High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Proven experience as a transcriptionist, medical transcriptionist, or similar documentation‑focused role.

Excellent typing skills with high accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Strong listening skills and ability to understand a range of accents, speech patterns, and audio quality levels.

Good knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and written English.

Comfortable working with computers, transcription software, and electronic document systems.

Reliable high‑speed internet connection and a quiet, secure home workspace.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and productivity standards while working independently.

Preferred Qualifications


Experience with medical transcription in a clinic, hospital, or community health setting.

Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and common clinical documentation formats.

Experience using EHR systems or other healthcare documentation platforms.

Certification in medical transcription (or similar) is a plus but not required.

Prior remote work experience.

Work Schedule
