About the Opportunity:

Position Details:

  • Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (Family, Adult, Pediatric NP)
  • Department: Health Services
  • Reports To: Site Supervisor / Clinical Nurse Lead / Health Director
  • Location: Various FNHA Operational Sites and BC Health Authorities across British Columbia
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time / Casual (Temporary Staffing)

Job Purpose:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide comprehensive primary, urgent, and chronic care services. Youll collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care for patients in both clinical and community settings, including remote First Nations communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Patient Care:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and create individualized treatment plans
  • Provide primary, urgent, and chronic care services
  • Deliver emergency care and coordinate patient transfers as needed
  • Educate patients and families on disease prevention and health management
  • Conduct home care visits and follow-up care

Collaborative Care:

  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide coordinated care

Work Settings:

  • FNHA facilities: Nursing Stations, Health Centres, Community Clinics
  • BC Health Authorities: Interior Health, Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, Island Health, Northern Health, and PHSA

Geographic Coverage:

Opportunities available across urban, rural, and remote communities in BC.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Registered and in good standing as a Nurse Practitioner in British Columbia
  • Certifications: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Compliance Requirements:

    • Clear Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Screening
    • Two professional references
    • Up-to-date immunization records

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years (24 months) of Nurse Practitioner experience required for FNHA placements

Core Competencies:

  • Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Comfort working independently in remote or high-pressure environments
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities
  • Cultural humility and a patient-centered care approach
  • Leadership within multidisciplinary care teams

Working Conditions:

  • Travel to remote/rural communities may be required
  • Flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays
  • Possible on-call and home care responsibilities
