Sr Design Engineer Electrical/ECAD
Job Description:
Shape the future of electric mobility
At Siemens eMobility Charging, we're accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation. Every charger we design helps people and businesses move cleaner, smarter, and more efficiently.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you take end-to-end ownership of how our electrical designs are captured, validated, and prepared for certification. Your work directly impacts how fast we bring reliable charging solutions to market — and how confidently we meet global standards.
If you enjoy combining hands-on engineering, structured design thinking, and real-world impact, this role is for you.
Your impact
- In this role, you are the team's trusted expert ensuring that:
- Designs are accurate and consistent (schematics & ECAD)
- Products are proven and reliable (test evidence)
- Solutions are certification-ready (compliance support)
Your contribution will:
- Reduce costly redesign loops
- Improve test readiness and speed
- Shorten compliance cycles
- Strengthen the quality of our charging products globally
What you'll do
Own schematics & ECAD excellence (EPLAN / Altium)
- Create, maintain, and release high-quality electrical schematics and documentation
- Ensure clear structure, traceability, and consistency across designs
- Use EPLAN for system/module-level schematics and Altium for PCB-level designs
- Lead schematic reviews and act as the single source of truth across disciplines
Drive verification & testing
- Define and execute verification test plans for charger behavior
- Perform hands-on testing, debugging, and root-cause analysis
- Deliver structured test documentation, reports, and reusable evidence
- Support regression testing and continuous improvement of designs
Enable compliance readiness
- Prepare designs and documentation for certification and external testing
- Collaborate with external labs and partners during test campaigns
- Ensure high-quality technical evidence for CE-related requirements
- Apply practical knowledge of EV charging standards (e.g., IEC 61851, EMC context)
Collaborate & improve
- Work closely with system, hardware, firmware, and product design teams
- Help ensure designs are buildable, testable, and compliant
- Improve ways of working: documentation, review checklists, and test readiness
- Share lessons learned to continuously raise engineering standards
What success looks like
- Schematics are release-ready first time, with strong traceability
- Test results are clear, repeatable, and reusable
- Compliance cycles are faster and smoother
- Teams rely on you as the go-to expert for design integrity
What you bring
- BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar
- 6+ years experience in electrical design (industrial hardware, power electronics, or energy systems)
- Strong hands-on expertise with EPLAN Electric
- Experience with Altium for PCB schematics (preferred)
- Proven ability in testing, debugging, and validation
- Confidence working with compliance processes and technical documentation
- Fluent English (Dutch is a plus)
Nice to have
- Experience with EV charging (EVSE) or IEC 61851 standards
- Familiarity with EMC testing and certification processes
- Experience improving ECAD workflows, templates, or modular design approaches
How you'll work
You are:
- Ownership-driven – you bring topics from design to validation to completion
- Structured – you create clarity in complex systems and documentation
- Collaborative – you align teams and keep momentum across disciplines
- Curious and inclusive – you value diverse perspectives and continuously learn
Why join us?
- Work on technology that directly contributes to a more sustainable world
- Join a supportive, collaborative team where your expertise is valued
- Grow in an environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement
- Be part of a company that is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion
We believe great ideas come from diverse teams. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented groups to apply.
