Internship Electrical/Electronics Engineer
Job Description:
Internship Assignment: Design and Development of a High-Current Test Rack
Join Siemens and help engineer the next generation of high-current test technology! Were looking for an Electrical/Electronics Engineer Intern to design and build a high-current test rack that will play a key role in our advanced testing environments. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, solving complex hardware challenges, and creating reliable real-world solutions, this internship is for you.
What You'll Do
- Reverse-engineer, design, and develop a high-current (up to 750A) test rack with integrated cooling
- Integrate power distribution, PLC control, and measurement hardware into one robust system
- Prototype, assemble, and wire the test rack in a real lab environment
- Test and validate current handling, cooling performance, and overall system safety
- Create clear documentation: schematics, BOM, procedures, and user guidelines
- Present your results and design choices to stakeholders and engineering teams
What You'll Learn
- The fundamentals of system integration for high-power hardware
- Practical lab skills: wiring, measurement, thermal testing, and debugging
- Working with professional tools such as EPLAN, oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, and power analyzers
- Designing and selecting cooling solutions (fans, pumps, heat exchangers)
- Professional documentation, stakeholder communication, and collaboration with automation, hardware, and safety experts
Your Journey
From gathering requirements and translating them into a working concept, to building and validating your prototype, you'll be supported by an experienced mentor and a multidisciplinary engineering team. You'll deliver a functional test rack design or prototype, validated test results, and a final presentation summarizing your work and insights.
You Are
A motivated Bachelor or Master student in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field, with a passion for hands-on engineering, hardware design, and problem-solving. Experience with CAD or measurement equipment is a plus, but enthusiasm and curiosity are what matter most.
