Your role:

    The electrical hardware development engineer will be a key part of Heliox’ international development team responsible for the design and modification of industry-leading heavy-duty-vehicle charging systems.

    The electrical hardware development engineer will report to the Director of Engineering.

    Your responsibilities:

    You are responsible for the development and improvement of Heliox product designs, covering all aspects of the design including quality, cost, safety, performance, etc. The targets for these design aspects are defined in the top-level requirements established at the beginning of each product development project. To realize these requirements, you as the Electrical Hardware Engineer are responsible for developing documentation, developing designs, handling technical reviews, performing tolerance stack-up calculations, performing simulations, and performing testing as needed.

    The Electrical Hardware Engineer works with the rest of the development team as well as other departments to develop complete design technical product documentation including drawings, electrical diagrams and full detailed bills of material (BOM).

    Required qualifications:

      • At least a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
      • At least 5 years of experience in product design
      • Experience with working from requirements
      • Experience with electrical product design
      • Awareness of safety regulations (NFPA 70E, OSHA)
      • Experience with product lifecycle management tools


      • Safety oriented
      • Comprehensive understanding of revision control systems
      • In-depth knowledge of design for manufacturability
      • In-depth knowledge of design for serviceability
      • In-depth knowledge of design for reliability
      • In-depth knowledge electrical characteristics
      • Adept at reading schematics
      • Understanding of isolated power systems
      • Understanding of AC DC conversion systems
      • Understanding of NEMA ratings
      • Exposure to DCHV systems up to 1500V 

      Preferably, understanding of industry standards for charging:

      • SAE J1772
      • SAE J3105
      • UL 2202
      • UL 2231
      • UL 2251


      • Excellent communication skills

      • Capable of working with a large degree of independence
      • Independently motivated
      • Strong work ethic

      Familiarity with the following tools is a plus:

      • ePlan
      • ProPanel
      • Simulink

      • MS Teams
