We are seeking an experienced and driven Firmware Engineering Manager to lead our R&D firmware team focused on AC and DC Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in embedded systems, power electronics, and EV charging communication protocols, along with exceptional leadership skills to drive innovation, quality, and timely delivery in a fast-paced market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of firmware engineers, providing technical guidance and career development
- Develop and execute firmware development strategies aligned with product roadmaps
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects
- Establish best practices for firmware development, testing, and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and product management
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes and methodologies
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Participate in technical reviews and architecture discussions
- Drive innovation in charging technologies, including support for OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol), ISO 15118, IEC 61851, and other industry standards.
- Oversee compliance and certification processes related to safety (e.g., UL, IEC), grid communication (e.g., OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5), and interoperability.
- Explore and integrate AI-based diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and optimization in EVSE firmware.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years in embedded firmware development; 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming language
- Experience with firmware debugging tools, techniques, and processes
- Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces and real-time constraints.
- Excellence in project management and risk mitigation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in relevant field
- Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and other communication protocols.
- Knowledge of security best practices for embedded systems
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Background in product development for regulated industries
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with EVSE protocols: OCPP, ISO 15118, IEC 61851.
