Power Electronics Firmware Engineer
Job Description:
Engineer the intelligence behind high‑power EV charging
At Siemens eMobility Charging, we develop the power electronics that enable fast, reliable, and sustainable electric mobility worldwide. As a Firmware Engineer in our Module Team, you design the low‑level software that directly controls high‑power converters used in EV chargers for cars, buses, and trucks.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working close to hardware, solving real‑world control challenges, and seeing their work deployed at scale in safety‑critical, high‑performance systems.
Your challenge
You develop firmware for advanced AC/DC and DC/DC power modules, where performance, safety, and reliability are essential. By creating robust hard real‑time control software, you improve system efficiency, ensure compliance with international grid and safety standards, and directly contribute to the quality of Siemens eMobility charging products used around the world.
Beyond development, you are involved in testing, validation, and production support—ensuring that what you design performs consistently not only in the lab, but also in series production and in the field.
Your role
You will join the Power Module Design Group and take ownership of firmware throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through certification and production ramp‑up.
- Develop hard real‑time firmware for switching power semiconductors
- Work closely with power electronics hardware engineers to define optimal control concepts and hardware‑software trade‑offs
- Design, implement, and document interfaces between power modules and system controllers
- Test and debug prototypes at both module and system level
- Support certification activities, accelerated lifetime testing, and reliability validation
- Design production test and diagnostic software to ensure consistent manufacturing quality
- Support system integration teams and troubleshoot complex issues in existing products when needed
This is a hands‑on engineering role with real ownership and visible technical impact.
Your profile
You are an engineer with a strong interest in power electronics and embedded control, and you enjoy working at the interface between hardware and software.
You bring:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Strong affinity with power electronics and embedded firmware
- Experience with digital control systems (STM32 is a plus)
- Experience working close to hardware in development and test environments
- Familiarity with CE / UL standards is preferred
- Experience with tools such as CMake, Git(GitLab), Altium, LTSpice, Python
- Fluency in English
- A proactive and flexible mindset—you are not limited to a nine‑to‑five mentality
Experience with production test systems or additional tooling (for example C#, web technologies, or Docker) is a plus.
What we offer
We offer a technically challenging role with end‑to‑end ownership, direct impact on global EV charging infrastructure, and collaboration within a close‑knit team of experienced engineers. The position is based in Eindhoven, with a preferred 40‑hour contract (part‑time negotiable), competitive salary and benefits aligned with Siemens standards, and strong opportunities for growth within Siemens eMobility.
Join us and turn your firmware expertise into reliable, efficient power electronics that accelerate sustainable mobility. Apply now.
